Create a Modifier Set and Add Modifiers
Creating a Modifier Set and adding Modifiers is the same as the new Advanced Modifiers module. To create a Modifier Set:
- Navigate to Items from the left-side navigation menu.
- Click on Modifiers in the tabbed navigation menu and click on the Create Modifier Set button.
- Enter the Set Name and a POS Display Title (optional) for the Modifier Set (e.g., Sandwich Toppings) in the Details section of the popup window. If Online Ordering is enabled, you can enter an Online Display Title to appear above the modifiers on your online store.
The Set Name is displayed in the left-side menu of the Item Details window, and the POS Display Title is displayed in all capital letters above the modifiers. For example, you may want the set name to be "Bread" and the display title to be "SANDWICH BREAD." The display title also includes instructions automatically based on setting parameters; for example, "Select at least 1."
- Next, add individual modifiers to your modifier set using the table in the Modifiers section. Each Modifier includes the following fields:
- Modifier Name
- Kitchen Display Name (optional)
- Visibility: Select to include in the Register or Online
- Price: Set the modifier's price
You can rearrange the modifiers in the table to match the display order in the Register by clicking on the handle to the left of the row and dragging the modifier to the desired position (ascending order).
Configure Settings for Advanced Modifier Sets
After adding Modifiers, you can configure the Modifier Set via the basic and advanced settings. These settings allow you to customize how modifiers are presented and function within your POS system.

- Enabling the quantity selector option allows for multiple quantities of the same modifier.
- Once enabled, choose the location of the quantity selector from the options:

-
Conversational Ordering
- Enable conversational ordering to display customization buttons next to modifiers. The available buttons are "Add," "Extra," "No," "Lite," "Side," "Tossed," and "Only."
- Check or uncheck each option to customize which conversation monikers (buttons) are displayed in the modifier set. These buttons allow staff to quickly customize items based on how customers typically order (e.g., "EXTRA Bacon" or "NO Tomato").
- Control the behavior of buttons after a modifier is selected by choosing from three options:
- Always Reset: All buttons return to their default state after selection.
- Never reset (stay selected): Buttons remain in their selected state to easily replicate choices.
- Reset to "Add" selected: All buttons reset, with the "Add" button becoming selected by default.
-
Split Modifiers
- This feature allows splitting the Modifier Set in half to apply different options to each "side" of an item. It is ideal for pizzas where you might want half cheese and half pepperoni.
- After enabling split functionality, you can specify the split display name from the dropdown options, namely "Side" or "Half."
Customize Modifier Sets on Individual Items
After applying a modifier set to an item, you can further customize the settings for that specific item by selecting the overflow menu (three dots to the right of the Modifier Set row) and clicking "Customize Modifier Set" from the dropdown menu.
- Any changes to the Modifier Set on the item level will override its default settings.
- This flexibility allows you to use the same modifier set on multiple items while tailoring it to fit the specific needs of each item.
Include/Omit Modifiers
In the 'Customize Modifiers' section, you can adjust the modifier price (for this item) and select to include or omit modifiers. Including modifiers marks the modifier as "Included" in the modifier set, and omitting modifiers removes it from the set.
