If you run a restaurant, you likely want to have orders sent to the kitchen using a LAN (Ethernet) printer. This article discusses how to add a LAN printer to the BackOffice. Note the system is only configured to work with Star Micronics printers, and there are two types of printers: Thermal and Impact. The subsequent steps are based on the assumption that you have unboxed and set up the Star Micronics LAN printer. Check out the Star LAN (Kitchen Printer) Setup Guide article for steps on installing the hardware.

Step 1: Obtain the IP Address from the Printer
When adding a LAN printer to the system, you need to enter the IP address of the newly connected wireless printer. Follow the steps below to obtain the IP address of the printer.
- Power off the printer by flipping the power button on the printer's side to the off position.
- Press and hold the feed button on the front of the printer.
- While holding the FEED button, power on the printer by flipping the Power Switch to the ON position.
- Release the FEED button.
- The printer will print out two test receipts upon releasing the FEED button. On the second receipt, note the IP Address listed under Current IP Parameters Status (illustrated below), as you will need to add the printer to your account.
Step 2: Add the Printer to your Account
- Log into the BackOffice by going to https://dashboard.getradish.com.
- Click Settings > Location > Printers from the left-side navigation menu.
- Click the Add Printer button.
- Give the printer a name (e.g., Kitchen Printer 1).
- Select whether the printer is a Thermal or Impact printer.
- Enter the IP address printed on the receipt.
- Lastly, enable or disable itemized receipts using the toggle button. If this is enabled, each item will print on a receipt. By default, this is disabled.
- Click Add.
Congratulations! You have completed the setup and are ready to use your new printer.
